The crawler serial number is 60973, the transmission case s/n is 60974, but the engine is out of a John Deere M and it's s/n is 70057.

Well I bought the machine in August of 99 for $3000. Found out that the crank was cracked.

Dad and I spent 2300 hours in the restoration. We took it apart to the last nut and bolt. Every thing was put back to spec.

7,000 pounds of sand were used in cleaning each part. Primer was Zinc Chromate, covered with enamel primer and top coat of PPG urethane.

95% of the bearings were replaced, all of the seals were replaced along with $350 of cadmium plated bolts.

I have shown this crawler in the Steam Era tractor show in Milton Ontario. The machine with the Model 61 Angling Dozing blade weighs 4,850 pounds, with me on it a tad under 5,000 pounds. The crawler was first in it's class for the antique tractor pull.

The blade was so battered that I had to cut out the welds with a friction cut off saw, straighten all the memebers and reweld. The mold board is a sheet of .100" steel covered with a sheet of .100" stainless steel.

The hydraulic pump was machined back into spec and a 4 micron suction strainer was added.
